Dedicating the New Mission Centre
As part of our 160th Anniversary celebrations, the third and fourth official programmes were held this evening in Moratuwa with great joy and spiritual fervour. The evening began with a vibrant March of Witness, followed by a Public Celebration on the grounds of a newly gifted property. On this historic occasion, we dedicated the property—which includes two buildings generously donated by the Wickremarantha family—in support of The Salvation Army’s ongoing mission and ministry. One building was dedicated as the ‘Mission Centre – Moratuwa,’ which will serve as the future home of the Salvation Army Music Academy, led by dedicated Salvationist music teachers, while the second is envisioned to become a Home for Elders, reflecting our commitment to holistic care and community transformation. Colonel Rohini Hettiarachchi dedicated the Salvation Army flag to the Moratuwa Mission Centre, a gift from Mr. Pradeep and the Amanda family. Over 200 Salvationists and friends gathered to celebrate this milestone, joined by the Mayor of the Moratuwa Municipal Council, who participated in the March and lit the traditional oil lamp. We offered heartfelt gratitude to the Wickremarantha family for their extraordinary generosity and faithful support. We thank God for this new chapter in our ministry and pray for His continued blessing upon the service that will flow from the Moratuwa Mission Centre. To God be the glory, great things He has done!
