160th Anniversary
To commemorate 160 years of The Salvation Army’s global mission and ministry, a special day of thanksgiving and celebration was held on Wednesday, 2 July 2025, by the Sri Lanka Territory. The day began with a meaningful Flag Hoisting Ceremony at 8:30 a.m. on the grounds of the Colombo Central Church, followed by a powerful Thanksgiving and Celebration Service at the Territorial Headquarters Conference Hall. During this special service, the Sri Lanka Territory joyfully announced the formation of a new administrative division – the Vavuniya Section – which includes four mission points: Trincomalee, Mannar, Vavuniya, and Weli Oya. This new chapter in the development of our Extension Ministry reflects the strength of teamwork and a shared vision. We are pleased to announce the appointment of Lieutenant Kandeepan as the first Sectional Officer of the Vavuniya Section. Lt. Colonel Vijayasri Senarathna also dedicated the Salvation Army flag to the Hatton Mission Point, a generous donation from Major Priyani Gunawardena. Special appreciation is extended to Major Anura Vithana and the support team for their faithful service guided by the Territorial Strategic Plan. We are deeply grateful to all friends and partners who generously contributed financial resources and manpower to make the day’s four events possible
